Bill is both a Navy and Army Veteran spending four years in each branch. During his time in the Army, he deployed to Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield/Desert Storm for 7 months. Upon returning home, Bill recognized he had PTSD, but didn't know quite how to manage it. After a suicide attempt, his friends intervened and took him to a place where he first became acquainted with Djembe hand drumming. From his first experience, Bill felt he had found something to help control his PTSD symptoms, specifically the immense stress he was experiencing in his life. Bill is the founder of Outlaw Drummers and has a website entitled Outlawdrummers.com. Also, Bill has written two books, Rhythm Healing: PTSD Trauma and Beyond and Desert Storm: And the War Inside Myself along with teaching Djembe hand drumming.
