It's all things considered an okay podcast, but I have a few big complaints: firstly the pacing is horrible. In Potterless we got 3 chapters per episode before the stuff got dense (this is Schubes himself said around HBP) and now we get a chapter per episode? I get you want to do this as your job and drag on but this is way too much, especially considering there's no funny rants or anything as it's all praising or not book related content. The next thing is exactly that: what made Potterless good, was the snarky and witty commentary of the books is now nowhere to be seen. Everything is perfect in the books, everything makes sense to Schubes and the only things that he actually tangles on are "would this be okay to say nowadays" -rants. It's super frustrating as it's not even remotely entertaining. I enjoy Mikes voice, snarkiness and good quests, but this "family-friendly woke" take on this podcast compared to potterless is just plain boring for the most part. I'm all for being woke and different ethnities, but I don't listen to bookpodcasts solely based on the hosts rants of how much this book happens to s*** on minorities or how well it represents different mental ilnessess.Tldr: Too dragged out and it's just recapping the book and feeling like it's the perfect bookseries. Trying to bash JK on every turn possible.
