Shelly discovered that she has ADHD entirely by accident in 2014. She was working in her first business at the time as, of all things, a professional organizer when she attended Dr. Barkley’s conference session on working with ADHD clients. Shelly always knew that there was something different about her that made it harder to do the things that she really wanted to do, but she chalked it up to the fact that she was simply lazier and less motivated than most people. Learning that there is a real reason that she struggles with things that seem easy for others was equal parts validating and terrifying. Shelly knew one thing, if there was a way to solve this ADHD thing, she was going to find it. With ample help from co-host Cameron Gott as her coach, mentor, and friend, she's figured out that solving ADHD isn’t the solution she needed at all, but rather she needed to understand her own ADHD experience to create the change she was seeking. Meanwhile, Shelly's hands on experiences as a professional organizer with ADHD clients taught her that the biggest challenge those clients face is not disorganization itself, but creating and sustaining change. Today Shelly presents, coaches, and collaborates on creating and sustaining meaningful change. | Guest |
