12/10 for worldbuilding! Practically reinvents the gruesome sexiness of vampire/human romance, pulling no punches as it picks apart the gnarly details of what immortal life might really entail and what happens when a body just can’t make the change. Alfie is a disastrous protagonist, incredibly lovable in all his faults; Casper is as dark and brooding as you might expect, but with a center of aching tenderness that Alfie has burrowed into despite his best efforts to stay away. I can’t get over the tasty codependency nor the shockingly raw emotionality that Alfie manages to convey even when he’s recounting events into a recorder on his own, which is most of the time. Really keeps you on the edge of your seat through every single episode.
