NFL Power Rankings is a production of the NFL
0:07
in partnership with iHeartRadio.
0:09
Welcome to a brand new edition of NFL Power
0:11
Rankings. Mike m Eric ed Holme. There is
0:13
so much to get to today. Yes, we will go through
0:15
all of the teams, but more importantly, when there's news
0:18
to get to, that's when we got to start. And Eric DeVante
0:20
Adams, we knew he would get traded. We finally
0:22
know the home it is with his old quarterback
0:25
Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. And there's some news
0:27
around the Pittsburgh Steelers, Russell Wilson. According
0:29
to Mike Tomlin, in consideration to
0:31
start this week, how does this affect
0:35
how you place some of these teams in the Power
0:37
Rankings?
0:38
It would have been a lot easier had they announced this twelve
0:40
hours earlier, Mike, just being honest, right,
0:42
hard enough to react to Sunday's game than
0:44
they throw a Tuesday morning kerball. Actually two of
0:46
them at us, with the Adams news
0:49
and the Wilson news. I looked at the scenario and I
0:51
said, I don't think I'm touching them.
0:52
I'm leaving him as is.
0:53
I've kind of erased DeVante Adams
0:56
from the Raiders. You know, I didn't really picture them,
0:59
you know, having him at any point this season, so
1:01
i'd kind of removed that from the equation and the
1:03
Jets after that loss, after everything that's gone
1:05
down this week, I had a hard time kind of bumping them
1:07
up. So I don't know, you know, maybe
1:09
the Steelers thing has an effect, but.
1:11
They've been winning with justin fields. We'll have to break
1:13
that down later though.
1:14
Yeah, closer to look at both of those squads still to
1:16
come. But as we always do, we start with the best teams
1:18
in the NFL. And the rankings won through
1:21
eight, no change at the top of one and two,
1:23
with Minnesota and Kansas City sitting idle. How
1:25
about this, the Baltimore Ravens looking like the team
1:27
that I thought they were going to be, rising
1:29
two spots now sitting at number
1:31
three with four consecutive wins. At number
1:33
four, the Texans no Nico, no problem, The
1:35
Lions absolutely demolish,
1:38
smash, pick any adjective you want. Against
1:40
the Dallas Cowboys, no Aiden Hutchinson. We'll
1:42
talk about the effect as they are
1:44
sitting at the fifth spot. The Bill
1:46
snap two game, losing straight there at six
1:48
the Packers roll Arizona at seven, and
1:51
we will focus in on the Commanders at number eight
1:53
in just a couple minutes. The disparity
1:56
here from a Baltimore perspective and what we are
1:58
seeing in terms of rushing yards and what they are allowed.
2:00
I know, defensively at times they're not what
2:02
they were a season to go. But eric team
2:04
looks dangerous and it looks like the freight
2:07
train that is Dereck Henry that's applying
2:09
to this offense and how they're rolling.
2:13
Absolutely.
2:13
Yeah, for the points you just made, right, maybe
2:15
they've taken a small step back defensively,
2:17
you know, maybe there were some special teams questions early
2:20
in the season. Those have all been washed
2:22
aside the last four games with an
2:24
offensive output that makes them one of the scariest
2:26
teams in the NFL. Look, it's nothing
2:28
new, right. We've been talking about Lamar Jackson
2:31
for years and he can do this to pretty much any
2:33
defense, pick you apart through the air with
2:35
his legs. It's good to see Mark Andrews
2:37
kind of get back on track a little bit, even
2:39
with the drop that led to a pick.
2:41
But you add Derek Henry to that mix.
2:43
He's been spectacular, scoring a touchdown
2:45
in every single game. You know, He's obviously
2:47
been a huge part and kind of a missing ingredient.
2:49
In some ways.
2:50
They had a good rushing game before, but now they have a great
2:52
one, say Flowers reemerging.
2:54
I just don't know how you defend this team.
2:56
It's going to be a chore, especially for those NFC
2:58
clubs that don't see him as often.
3:00
And yeah, I just had to move him up.
3:02
Not that the Texans are playing poorly by
3:04
any means, but felt like I had to leap
3:06
frog him into that number three hole there, right there
3:08
with the undefeated teams' most scary clubs
3:10
in the NFL.
3:11
Yeah, right now in the number that I'm referencing, the Ravens
3:14
averaging one hundred and forty six point three more
3:16
rushing yards than their opponents this season.
3:18
If it holds, and look, there's a long way to go
3:21
here, it would be the largest differential in
3:23
NFL history. You mentioned the
3:25
Texans, let's slide
3:27
to them at number four now on
3:29
the power rankings for you, CJ.
3:32
Stroud, We talked about a sophomore
3:34
some that's not what this is. You know. What's interesting
3:36
to me though, the guy was so stellar a year
3:39
ago as a rookie, not turning the football
3:41
over. We're seeing some of that. By the way, they're the fourth
3:43
team in the NFL, and I'm going negative here. I don't mean
3:45
to do that. I guess I'm being I'm sort of nitpicking
3:47
here. But the reality is still a talented ball club.
3:50
Absolutely right. And then their past defense has
3:52
done a really nice job. They didn't have Kamari Lassiter
3:54
and they still step up with a good performance.
3:56
Granted, Drake May's first game out there
3:59
in Foxborough, but they did two things
4:01
that really impressed me, Mike, which is they got off to a
4:03
great startup for two nothing points. Have been
4:05
a little troublesome at times this season. They've settled
4:07
for field goals and whatnot and then scoring
4:10
lake to put a team away. All their wins
4:12
had been close to this point. Their one loss
4:14
was a blowout to Minnesota. But I really
4:16
wanted to kind of see them, for lack
4:18
of a better phrase, step on a team's neck a little
4:20
bit to do that on the road in Joe Mixon's
4:23
return. He was such a huge part of what
4:25
they did Sunday. Damian Pierce AD's
4:27
the big touchdown late. They were great on the
4:29
ground. You saw tang Dell get involved
4:31
in the past game a little bit more. Stefan Diggs
4:33
had his role. So you can miss a guy
4:36
like Nico Collins, one of the NFL's best young
4:38
receivers.
4:39
And still have this win.
4:40
Joe Mixon is back in the lineup, so again,
4:43
second half scoring was also an issue.
4:45
CJ's played pretty well.
4:46
It hasn't been quite as spectacular, but
4:48
there are a lot to deal with right now.
4:50
Yeah, no Nico Collins, as you made reference to intered
4:53
reserve with the hamstring injury. Three different
4:55
players with a receiving touchdown,
4:57
and once again I apologize to the Houston Texans
5:00
fans out there. I love your squad, especially
5:02
what they do on the defensive side, which I don't think they
5:04
get nearly enough credit for. They'll match up against
5:06
green Bay on the road this coming
5:08
weekend. We'll talk about the Packers in just
5:10
a moment. Meanwhile, Eric at
5:12
number five, it is the Detroit Lions
5:15
who not only beat they smashed, they obliterated
5:17
the Dallas Cowboys, and yet you have them dropping
5:20
two spots in the power rankings. I
5:22
got to imagine this, centers around the injury
5:24
of one particular player in Aiden Hutchinson.
5:28
I wrote in my column for this week's power rankings
5:30
that I felt dirty moving them down two spots,
5:32
and the truly did because I said to myself, look,
5:34
I mean I did it with Rashid Rice, I did it with other
5:37
key figures. To a tongue of Iiloa who have been
5:39
injured this season, you got to ask, what
5:41
is it going to do to the team that said
5:43
this was a dominant performance
5:45
in Dallas. I was particularly impressed
5:47
by the fact that after this long
5:50
delay, after losing kind of the heartbeat
5:52
of their team in a lot of ways, Detroit played
5:54
some pretty inspired ball after that. I understand
5:56
it was a pretty big margin, but it was almost
5:58
like they were out to send a message, Hey, we're not going
6:01
away just because our best defensive
6:03
player is hurt. I don't have an offense
6:05
that is back to twenty twenty three levels,
6:07
perhaps beyond. We could bust out a
6:09
trick play at any time like this, one of
6:11
many on the day that didn't all work, but this one
6:14
did. And you're seeing kind of the fruits
6:16
of what they've put in offensively the last couple
6:18
of years. It's back to where it was and
6:20
possibly even better if a guy like Tim Patrick
6:22
keeps producing. So yeah, I'm still
6:25
impressed with this team. There's no way I'm knocking
6:27
them all the way down. But I felt like I
6:29
had to reflect the fact that Hutchinson
6:31
has been such an important part to this team
6:33
the last couple of years, and look,
6:36
it's.
6:36
Gonna have an effect one way or another.
6:37
I know, Dan Campbell's gonna get those guys
6:40
fired up, and I hope they proved me wrong. But
6:42
yeah, it's just sort of reflecting the reality of
6:44
the situation.
6:45
Yeah, back to back games, the lines have scored at least
6:48
forty points. First time that's happened for the franchise
6:50
nineteen sixty two. We
6:52
weren't born yet at this point. I've just thrown
6:55
that out there. It has been a very long time that
6:57
we could have a conversation like this. Matching
6:59
up against Minnesota this week a huge, huge,
7:01
mammoth game for both of those squads. Meanwhile,
7:03
the Buffalo bill snap a two game losing
7:05
streak. Here, the Jets blew
7:08
some opportunities on Monday Night Football,
7:10
and at the same time, Josh Allen still
7:12
Josh Allen they got it done without James
7:15
cookout on the football field. I
7:17
don't know. They still one of the best teams in the league.
7:20
I think so.
7:21
You know, you saw Ray Davis step up in that role
7:23
all day and all of the night. Right, he was outstanding
7:26
running the football. They actually got away from him at one
7:28
point. I was sort of screaming at my TV asking
7:30
why. But it's still a talented
7:32
football team. They're gonna get Cooked back pretty
7:35
soon. You see that the trust that Allen
7:37
kind of has is developing a little bit more with
7:39
his receivers. You know, the penalties
7:42
really marred this game on both sides.
7:44
There were probably more flags than there should have been and
7:46
that sort of thing, and it did sort of cast
7:48
an ugly Paul over this entire game. So
7:50
I don't want to put too much stock into what happened
7:52
Monday night, but look, they went up against
7:55
a desperate team that had had a wild
7:57
week and with stood the Aaron Rodgers
7:59
storm. I mean, he did dice him up for a
8:01
good portion of that game, but at
8:04
the end, big defensive play from Tarron
8:06
Johnson. He'd miss four games in a row, that
8:08
was huge. You know, they're just coming up
8:10
with more guys on this roster
8:13
than I realized they had.
8:14
That depth was questioned after the offseason.
8:16
I don't know that you can do that as much anymore.
8:18
Yeah, look at the end of the day, the Bills still in
8:20
control in the AFC East. They've won this division now four
8:22
consecutive seasons and looking again like they
8:24
are the team to beat, although maybe the DeVante
8:27
Adams equation with the Jets changes
8:30
that conversation. In just a couple of weeks, the
8:32
Packers they move up one spot here. You
8:34
know, we're spending a lot of time on defense in
8:36
this a bloc. We've loved up the Houston Texans.
8:38
It's a reason why the Lions had dropped
8:40
the spot. I don't think we give enough credit
8:42
to what Green Bay's defense has been able to accomplish.
8:44
It feels like every single game Eric, there's
8:47
multiple takeaways.
8:49
Yep.
8:49
And it feels like every single year for the past
8:51
two decades, Packers fans have had a defensive
8:53
coordinator, you know, to complain about
8:55
somebody they're ready to get rid of. But Jeff Hapley
8:57
has come in and fixed the problem, which is takeaways.
9:00
They had seventeen of them.
9:01
Or excuse me eighteen of them all last season
9:04
there already at seventeen now through six
9:06
games, you pointed out two per game at
9:08
least every single time. Xavier McKinney's
9:11
come in and done a terrific job. You know, the
9:13
young waves of defensive talent they've drafted
9:15
over the last couple of years have really kind of bolstered
9:17
that group as a whole. And it's nice
9:19
when Jordan Love is also helping out with
9:22
some productive drives. You know, he was sort of calm
9:24
and patient and took what the defense gave him early,
9:27
and then he took his shots late when he had a little
9:29
bit of a lead.
9:30
But the you know, they were still creeping back.
9:32
Into the game, and you know there was
9:34
a lot of farv like plays
9:36
in that second half where you said, man.
9:38
Jordan Love looks like he's healthy again. This
9:41
defense is doing well.
9:42
If they can only solve the kicker problems,
9:44
they have a chance to crack that top five and keep
9:46
moving up.
9:47
You know, a couple of weeks ago, when the Bills were three
9:49
and oh, we had said, oh, we're going to learn about this team with road
9:52
games against Baltimore and Houston.
9:54
I think the same could be so we've got a bunch of barometer games.
9:56
I know I made reference to the Packers hosting
9:59
the Houston Texans that will really
10:01
dramatically, I think, alter what we're going to see
10:03
next week on Power Ranking, and then obviously lines
10:05
and vikings. Meanwhile, the Commanders at eight, they
10:08
dropped two spots fifty two rushing yards on
10:10
the ground, not going to get it done.
10:12
And Janey Daniels, by the way, has been still are also held
10:14
in check in that run game. This just a blip
10:16
on the radar for the squad, right.
10:18
I think so, Although at the same time,
10:20
when I was watching that game, it was clear kind
10:22
of the experience level and
10:24
talent disparity that there still is between
10:26
a team like Baltimore and the Washington
10:28
Commanders. I give j Daniels
10:31
a lot of credit. They took the run game away from him,
10:33
kind of spied him, hemmed him in a little bit. They didn't
10:35
have Brian Robinson Junior, so you
10:37
know, it's like working left handed the entire
10:39
game, but they found ways to keep it close. I
10:41
understand the scorers maybe a little cosmetic
10:44
there, but again a one score
10:46
deficit did what they could. The reality
10:48
is that defense is going to have their hands full against
10:51
stacked offenses like the Ravens all
10:53
season long. I'm not selling on them as
10:55
a contender. I think they're very much in the mix,
10:57
especially with the chaos and Dallas and the
10:59
Giants still struggling a little bit. The Eagles
11:02
are kind of a who knows type of team,
11:04
So I'm still buying.
11:05
A little bit of stock. It's just lightly buying
11:08
on the way up. I guess. Yeah.
11:09
It's a hard division to handicap. I might
11:11
push back a little bit on the Eagles now that they're healthy,
11:14
and we'll have that conversation coming up in just a couple
11:16
of minutes. I still think that they might be the team to
11:18
be, and I'm still
11:20
holding out a little fit on the Giants
11:22
handling. So I don't know.
11:24
Maybe it's just a fan in me. I know,
11:27
still the cove Here on NFL power rankings, we touched
11:29
on at russ in consideration to start
11:31
for the Steelers against the Jets.
11:34
What does it mean for the power rankings and
11:36
what Steelers fans can expect the rest of the way
11:38
answers next
11:44
back here on power rankings, as we look at teams
11:47
nine through sixteen. The
11:49
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, checking in at number nine,
11:51
scored fifty one points almost six hundred
11:53
total yards. What an offensive showing
11:55
against the Saints. The Steelers once
11:58
again having some conversations about Russ,
12:00
which we'll get to in just a moment. The Atlanta Falcons
12:02
are at eleven. They've scored at least thirty six in
12:05
each of the last two games. Remember this is a team that
12:07
started off a little slow offensively. At number
12:09
twelve, the Eagles healthy handle business
12:11
against the Browns, the Bears London was good.
12:13
They beat up on the Jags at fourteen.
12:15
The Niners they improve to
12:18
the five hundred market three and three with a
12:20
win against Seattle. The Chargers are at fifteen
12:22
after snapping a three game slide, and the Broncos
12:24
actually had a three game winning streak
12:26
now officially in the rearview mirror checking
12:29
in at sixteen. Let's focus in on this Buck squad
12:31
once again. Great game Monday night football against
12:33
the Ravens. I'm a believer. I
12:35
think you and I have talked about this offensively
12:37
pretty good. I don't know if they handle business against
12:40
the Baltimore Ravens, but I feel like when their backs
12:42
are up against the wall, Baker Mayfield
12:44
just figures out ways to respond.
12:46
Yeah, he responded this in the game
12:48
Sunday, right through some early interceptions.
12:51
Maybe one of them wasn't his fault, but seemed
12:53
to be kind of forcing the issue a little bit, and
12:55
then really got on track and started picking the Saints
12:57
defense apart. And you know, was it
12:59
great that they had Sean Tucker stepping in a
13:02
you know, kind of a little known, unformally undrafted
13:04
guy out of Syracuse and had a massive
13:06
game. Absolutely, But you
13:08
know, it still starts and ends. I think with what
13:11
Godwin, Evans, Mayfield, Kate
13:13
Ott and the tight end, etc.
13:15
Can do a good sort
13:17
of response.
13:18
They get up early, take a punch, and then
13:20
fight back to win this game ahead of the big money nighter.
13:22
As you said at number ten,
13:24
here we have the Pittsburgh Steelers
13:26
who have been flirting in this position pretty
13:29
much the entire season. Yeah, Eric,
13:31
we touched on at the top Mike Tomlin, Hey, Russ
13:33
is in consideration to start. Can you think
13:35
of a top ten team that has questions
13:38
at the quarterback spot like this is Actually it
13:40
speaks volumes to what the roster actually looks
13:42
like besides the QB one.
13:45
Yeah, it's one thing if you have an injured quarterback
13:47
or you have a couple options on the bench you're deciding
13:50
between. That's not really what's happening here, right.
13:52
Obviously Russ was hurt that thrust
13:54
Fields into the lineup. Now both guys are healthy.
13:56
He was back last week. He was elevated
13:58
to the number two. Fields didn't play great,
14:01
had an interception called back by penalty, did
14:03
run for two touchdowns, But the bottom line is.
14:05
They're winning with him at quarterback.
14:07
I think there might be some sense that what happened
14:10
against Dallas or what didn't happen against
14:12
them, especially after the Lions bleek,
14:15
that same Dallas defense apart on Sunday
14:18
may have contributed to the
14:20
equation here a little bit and given Wilson
14:22
a little bit more of a bump up. And you
14:24
know, he was running ahead of Fields in
14:26
training camp before that CAF started barking.
14:29
So I suppose that's the line of thinking.
14:31
Maybe a little better relationship with with Pickens.
14:33
Who knows, but you.
14:35
Know this is Mike Tomlin. He's got a pretty good record
14:37
for coaching in this league.
14:39
So I think it makes sense that you
14:41
know there's some logic behind it.
14:43
Yeah, and look in the NFL, and we know this because
14:45
we watch these games every single week. As Eric tries
14:47
to rank these teams, I shouldn't say try, he does rank
14:50
the teams with. The point is, the margins are
14:52
are thin here and if Russ is like
14:54
a smidge better than Justin in
14:56
Tomlin's eye, that might be enough to
14:58
really move the needle and try to make a change here
15:01
at number twelve. And you've got to stay healthy. In the Eagles,
15:03
finally a little bit more aren't healthy and they get
15:05
it done against the Browns,
15:07
they still drop a spot for you.
15:10
It sounds like you're a little on the fence about Philly.
15:12
Why it wasn't crazy about
15:14
their performance on Sunday against the Browns
15:16
team that obviously has a lot of things going wrong
15:19
for them, and it was a.
15:20
Real struggle there.
15:21
I mean, they really had to sort of put
15:23
the the effort into to finishing this one
15:25
off, and it took every Aj Brown catch.
15:27
It was great to see him back and producing. Obviously
15:29
that's a huge part of their team that was factored
15:32
in, but it really took
15:34
a big effort in some Cleveland penalties
15:37
on their last drive. I mean they were down
15:39
to the what three or four yard line and couldn't
15:41
punch it in settle for a field goal. That kind of ended
15:43
up being the difference. They didn't get the ball back, so still
15:46
a lot to prove for me. You know, Barkley was a
15:48
non factor. Jalen Hurts had kind of a quiet game
15:50
relatively speaking. You know, I
15:52
want to see a little bit more, but it was good to see
15:54
the defense make some strides and guys like Cooper
15:56
de Jene step up in that nickel role
15:59
that they badly, badly needed to fix.
16:01
I know we're not going to spend too much time talking about the Browns.
16:03
I got to tell you, can you if they were getting
16:06
above average average quarterback
16:08
play? I think we're having a much different conversation
16:11
about the Cleveland squad. And they absolutely
16:13
to the end of power rankings. By
16:16
the way, Eagles matching up against the g Men
16:18
this week, Eric, it is time for power
16:20
moves, and yes it is the Chicago Bears
16:22
sitting at thirteen. They move up four spots,
16:25
They go to London, they get a win, and Caleb
16:27
Williams, I think this is the Caleb that we
16:29
expected to see, and at least on paper eric before
16:32
the season started there was a plethora of options.
16:34
It feels like Caleb is now understanding
16:37
how to utilize some of those weapons.
16:40
Getting Keenan Allen back I think was huge, and
16:42
Williams has looked terrific the last two games.
16:44
It has to come with the coveat that It
16:46
did come against the Panthers and Jaguars,
16:49
arguably two of the five worst defensive
16:51
football.
16:51
But look at that play to Cole Kman.
16:53
First of all, getting him involved, I think was also a
16:55
big development. A little bit quiet earlier
16:57
in the season, but great play designs
16:59
from Shane Waldron really spread those Jaguars
17:01
out, got the ball into multiple playmakers'
17:04
hands, and Williams just looks so much more comfortable.
17:07
Everything was less strained. The first few
17:09
games of the season, he looked like a guy doing his taxes
17:11
on April fourteenth, but looking
17:13
pretty good.
17:14
Now.
17:14
You see he's deciding when to run, when to throw,
17:17
and who to throw to with a lot
17:19
more.
17:20
Ease and a lot more comfort.
17:21
I think in this this sort of
17:24
New Bears offense, I.
17:25
Guess I'm glad I'm not the only one that's a little
17:27
bit of procrastinator or when it comes to that tax
17:29
situation as well, hopefully that looks a little
17:31
more for me on it. Exactly, you throw money
17:33
at the problem is how I like to describe it. At fifteen,
17:35
it is the Chargers move up four spots. You've
17:37
actually, I think been more optimistic about
17:40
the Chargers than most. I
17:42
thought this was a positive sign to win a game
17:44
like this is a little dirty ball control. This
17:46
is what we expected from Harbaugh these
17:49
types of games.
17:49
Oh, Jim doesn't care how it happens, right, I
17:51
mean, like you know, we saw it last year with Michigan's
17:54
a lot of close games. But you
17:56
know, when you're able to run the ball down team's throats,
17:58
that helps a lot. But they got creative in the
18:00
passing game and they asked Justin Herbert
18:02
to throw it early in this game. Kamani vay Dell
18:04
with a long TV catch. You know, I
18:07
thought Lad McConkie had some big plays left
18:09
with injury and see me Forjoko steps
18:11
up. So they're spreading the ball around as best
18:13
they can. Joshua Palmer finally making his impact
18:16
as well. Defensively, they were great
18:18
for three quarters up twenty three. Zip
18:21
got a little dicey late, But this
18:23
Chargers team has a formula and they're sticking to it
18:25
right now and it's working.
18:26
Defensively, there's so much better than a year ago.
18:28
Yeah, and there's also a formula for the team that they beat
18:30
in the Denver Broncos, who defensively
18:32
have looked pretty strong generally
18:34
speaking, and had been running a three game winning
18:36
streak. So this is a good win from a Chargers
18:39
perspective. More to come here though. On NFL
18:41
Power Rankings, and yes, we touched on the Devonte
18:43
Adams trade. He is heading to New York
18:45
to get reunited with Aaron Rodgers. What does it mean not
18:47
only for this week's edition to Power Rankings, but
18:50
how it might unfold as the rest of the season goes
18:52
on. We
18:59
continue to roll here on Power Rankings with team
19:01
seventeen through twenty four. Three straight
19:04
wins now three straight losses for
19:06
the Seahawks, who checking at seventeen, the Colts
19:08
at eighteen. I think we need to be having
19:10
a conversation about Joe Flacco being in this team's
19:12
starting quarterback moving forward here at nineteen,
19:15
the Cowboys Wow, the
19:17
Jets at twenty we'll get to that squad now
19:20
that they have DeVante Adams. The Saints not sure what
19:22
to make of them without Derek Carr. I'll give them the mulligan
19:24
on that. The Bengals at twenty two
19:28
still figured out a way to get it done. The
19:30
Giants at twenty three, I think we saw some good
19:32
positive strives from that team's defense. Still some questions
19:34
offensively. And at twenty four, the Arizona
19:37
Cardinals. Please explain to me what
19:39
the heck is going on in Big d inexcusable.
19:42
I don't know how else to describe the performance that we
19:44
witness from that team.
19:46
Yeah.
19:46
I saw a lot of people make an excuse on Twitter,
19:48
Oh they don't have Michael Parsons, they don't have DeMarcus
19:50
Lawrence. Well they didn't have them the week before they went into
19:52
Pittsburgh, and you know, at least held
19:55
up sort of right. So you know what
19:57
they did on Sunday, even against an explosive
19:59
lines offense, was, like you said, inexcusable.
20:01
I thought there were some business decisions
20:03
late after the league got a little
20:05
big, and the tackling and the discipline,
20:08
I mean, just wide open receivers in a lot of
20:10
cases.
20:10
So, yeah, this has got to get fixed.
20:12
Jerry Jones, no way to spend your eighty second
20:15
birthday watching this kind of performance.
20:16
And you know it's amazing.
20:18
I mean, they've been so poor at home after
20:20
the sixteen game win streak, the last.
20:22
Four they've been outscored by eighty
20:25
two points.
20:25
I mean, maybe it's a good thing they're going on the road, Mike,
20:27
I don't know, but they're three and all away from home this year
20:30
and not good at home.
20:31
Yeah.
20:32
We were doing NFL Game
20:34
Day preview a couple of weeks ago. I said to Steve Wych
20:36
on that show, like, hey, maybe it's a good thing that Dallas is
20:38
hitting the road. He's like, really, and it's now
20:40
consistently now playing out this way. I don't
20:42
know how to answer that question.
20:45
The Jets' biggest news of the week Devantae
20:47
Adams. We know where he's going. He's getting reunited with
20:49
Aaron Rodgers. We touched it at the top, open
20:52
ended, what do we make of this team? Because
20:54
even with a coaching change, they
20:56
still couldn't figure out a way to get it done. It was still
20:58
sloppy with all the penalties, and
21:01
yet I don't know if adding Devontae
21:03
Adams really puts the team back into
21:05
playoff consideration. Maybe I'm crazy.
21:08
I don't think you are, Mike. This is the question I
21:10
have.
21:10
It's funny because, like everybody has expected
21:12
this move to happen, right, Davante is going to
21:14
get traded. Where's the most likely Plett's place
21:16
to the Jets, where you know Aaron Rodgers
21:18
his buddy is. And it worked out exactly
21:21
the way we thought. And yet there's still questions
21:23
about how this is all going to work.
21:25
Right.
21:25
Can you have Allen Lazard who's
21:27
been productive for him, Garrett Wilson who's coming
21:30
on, Mike Williams, and DeVante
21:32
Adams all operating in the same offense.
21:35
I'm not sure you can. I don't know how they all fit
21:37
together. We'll see.
21:39
I mean, maybe this is the magic pill here,
21:41
but I have my doubts. As
21:43
amazing as a receiver as Adams
21:45
is.
21:46
Here's the only other thing I'll
21:48
tag it with this when I watch them
21:50
Monday night, their
21:52
best offense was giving Priest all the
21:54
football, and now all of a sudden, you are putting
21:57
more pressure on the passing your point try
21:59
to deliver. I'm Paul is their best weapon
22:01
out on the football field. No disrespect to the rest
22:03
of those guys there teams twenty five
22:05
through thirty two, the Rams at twenty five, the
22:07
Dolphins at twenty six, At twenty seven, Raiders,
22:09
doesn't matter if it's Gardner or Aiden. Offensive
22:12
struggle in both ways. At twenty eight the Titans
22:14
also tough to watch. The Jags, oh
22:16
boy at twenty nine. Don't know what's going
22:18
on with the Browns. At thirty the Patriots got a
22:20
spark with Drake may They still lost so at thirty
22:23
one, and then at thirty two the
22:25
Els continue to mount up for the Panthers.
22:27
The Patriots Mayo
22:30
made the change here. I actually think it was a good change.
22:32
There's signs of life now with the Patriots squad
22:34
in a gettable well maybe not with the Bills, but I
22:36
think the divisions.
22:37
I agree.
22:38
Yeah, the turnovers are a problem. They've got to clean
22:40
that odd. Drake knows that. But they put some
22:42
life into that offense. As you said, that forty yard
22:44
TV to Keayshan Boudia was the
22:47
best throw we've seen from a Patriots QB this
22:49
season, maybe even last year or the year before too.
22:52
It's got to get better. I think even
22:54
with the turnovers.
22:55
Yeah, I look, I think Patriots fans needed
22:57
They've drafted this dude that they wanted
22:59
to see him thrive out on the football field and touchdowns.
23:02
Right, we'll figure out those turnovers. By the way.
23:04
Wait, if you want a little more analysis on
23:06
your specific team, NFL dot Com Eric
23:09
Scatchi covered analysis of every one
23:11
of the teams in the NFL. Thanks so much for watching.
23:13
We'll see you next week.
