Infamous America: America’s history is clouded with dark and mysterious events. Some to this day remain beyond our understanding. This true crime podcast dives deep into them and covers a wide variety of narratives while bringing unvisited facts to supposedly well known history. A production of Black Barrel Media the podcast has 1,500 ratings on Itunes with 81% of those being 5 stars and an overall rating of 4 and a half stars. The miniseries pod has 9 completed seasons with 69 episodes total out so far and is currently putting out its 10th. As previously mentioned the topics are widespread and include subjects such as the Salem witch trials, Billy the Kid, and the true story that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is very loosely based on. New episodes of the 10th season come out weekly on Wednesdays and on average are about 32 minutes long. The most popular season is the second according to Owltail which covers the 100 year old notorious baseball scandal in which a group of Chicago White Sox conspired to lose the World Series. My favorite season is actually the current one about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre because while I knew the movie and about the man who sparked the inspiration, I didn’t know the two were connected in any way. Solo host Chris Wimmer does an excellent job in making the scripted podcast not sound like he’s just reading from a paper but telling a delightfully interesting story. His voice and music are beautifully balanced with one not overshadowing the other. This podcast has no time for jokes or funky character actors and sticks to telling the story. Each season has its own trigger warnings like violence so I wouldn’t listen with children under the age of maybe 10 but each season is pretty obvious to what is to be expected in its title.
