imageI couldn’t let this weekend go by without blogging about one of the heroes in my life: Tony Proudfoot. Tony was a star football player with the Alouettes from 1971-79; a Grey Cup Champion; an innovator - staple gunning the bottom of his and his teammates’ shoes in the 1977 “Ice Bowl” Grey Cup; an Alouettes radio broadcaster throughout the late ‘90‘s and 2000’s; an author; a professor for over 25 years and hero at Dawson College during the terrible 2006 shootings; a father; a husband and a friend. Tony also has ALS or better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Inspired by those living with the disease and by those who give their professional life to assist families and people living with ALS, came the song You To Me. It is a song of reflection, reality and appreciation. It is a song of love and care no matter when the end comes. Where do you turn to when one becomes afflicted with a disease like this? Family, friends, colleagues? It is a disease which is sometimes too much for our support group to handle. Provincial chapters’ focus of this disease targets mostly support for those living with the disease and their families while the national body is more focussed on research: Both are so necessary in fighting this battle. So Tony, I know this weekend you are cheering for the ALS but no matter what province we are in we are all cheering for a victory over A.L.S.!Take a listen or watch this video. It is a real eye opener.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kSxU_OWJMs
