Sali A. Tagliamonte is a linguist. Currently, she is a professor and Chair of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Toronto.Tagliamonte's research focuses on language variation and change, particularly in Ontario English, including projects related to speech communities looking at various communities in Toronto, North Bay, South Porcupine, Kirkland Lake, Haliburton, Almonte, Wilno, Kapuskasing and Barry's Bay, and in internet and youth language.Previously, Tagliamonte was Adjunct Professor at the Linguistics Department at University of Ottawa, a lecturer and visiting professor at the University of York.Tagliamonte received her B.A. in Linguistics from York University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Ottawa.
