Melissa Etheridge is an American rock singer-songwriter and guitarist, born on May 29, 1961. She gained fame in the late 1980s with her self-titled debut album, featuring the hit single "Bring Me Some Water" which earned her a Grammy Award Nomination. Etheridge won two Grammy Awards for her music and an Academy Award for Best Original Song with "I Need to Wake Up" from the documentary An Inconvenient Truth.
